The Saint -- A small rock and roll club that brings it great local and national artists. This is the place where you'll see future stars on their way up. The Stone Pony -- The most famous club in Asbury Park. Contrary to a story that has circulated around the world, Bruce Springsteen did not get his start at this club. He has however made many guest appearances throughout the years and still does. The Pony gets local and national acts in a medium sized club. They also hold concerts outside during the summer in the Stone Pony Summerstage area. Asbury Lanes -- Probably the most unique of the local clubs. Housed in a bowling alley, people actually bowl alongside the shows going on. Expect punk, surf, and rockabilly shows here for the most part. Convention Hall & Paramount Theatre -- Two classic venues located on the boardwalk that are currently being rennovated. These two sites have hosted some of the biggest names in history including The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, and, of course, Bruce Springsteen. Twisted Tree Cafe -- A small cafe serving vegan food and smoothies. It's a great place to hear acoustic acts. They generally hold free shows featuring local artists but occasionally have national acts as well. Brick Wall Tavern -- A good-sized pub that also has live music on the weekends. Not the best place to see a show as the crowd is generally very loud, but it's a great bar with tons of beer and wine choices. |
